    Brief Description This position maintains the Elections Department’s GIS system including designing, developing, customizing, monitoring, and analyzing the GIS applications that support the business needs of the department with the use of cartographic design and drafting principles as well as creating and editing new and existing graphical and tabular data, analyzing recommendations for new district and precinct lines for Dallas County, implementing changes resulting from state and federal redistricting and interfacing directly with clients regarding GIS needs. 
    Detailed Description Develops and maintains the Elections Department's GIS applications. Provides layers for the County GIS system. Designs, develops, customizes, monitors, analyzes and implements applications in order to develop and maintain enterprise spatial data and related information on multiple street systems. Assists with the administration and instruction of GIS tools, procedures and related duties by producing and preparing GIS related maps, reports, papers, proposals, presentations, instructional and other related training materials. Determines requirements, appropriate software and design methodologies for GIS applications. Documents systems, programs and operational procedures for Dallas County Elections Department GIS systems. Assists in the management and administration of the GIS data warehouse which includes systems monitoring, user interface improvements, verification of data integrity, and distribution. Analyzes various sources and data content for the periodic update of base data. Plays a leading role in most aspects of systems analysis, general systems design, vendor contracts, and detailed systems design. Provides geographical information services to other County departments and political subdivisions on a time available basis. Creates and edits streets on Voter Registration System, resolving streets not found and street ranges not found. Resolves reports from SOS on street issues (streets with no block ranges or no districts and manually tied streets). Implements changes due to redistricting and describes precinct lines and district information. Performs other duties as assigned. 
    Job Requirements Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or in a job related field of study. One (1) year of work-related experience. Proficient with keyboarding, word processing and/or spreadsheet software. Must have the ability to develop unique correspondence and/or detailed spreadsheets, follow/provide verbal and written instructions. Strong oral and written communication/presentation skills. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record. Standard office environment. Ability to travel to various work site locations.

    Minimum Salary: $4555.48 USD
    Maximum Salary: $5686.81 USD
