    Hello My Fellow GeoWomen,

I am looking for any ideas on geography gifts. Saw some cool stuff on Etsy, there is so much you can do with your data/maps now-a-days. Any ideas you could share, any successes on awesome gifts, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Erin

    Hi Erin -

You may have seen these on Etsy, but Candice Luebbering (former GISCI Executive Director) makes some great map coasters. I got a set and gave them to my parents as a gift - they are really well done and, of course, my parents love them!

I've also received socks with maps printed on them (love them - super fun!) and a globe pencil holder.

And books are always a great idea, too - here are some of my favorites:

    Carography. by Kenneth Field

National Geographic Atlas of the World (a bit spendy, but a beautiful book!)

There are several companies that make scratch-off maps - US, the world, national parks, etc. Each time you visit a place, scratch off, until you have a complete map. Love that it is interactive and increasingly fun over time.

    Hello,
My all-time favorite gift over the years is Earthopoly - my daughter's favorite, and many years later (once in a while ) she still asks to play it, so it has stood the test of time. The game uses carbon credits and clean air and recycling incentives to increase property values, and natural materials for all of the pieces.
    Best Jen

I have used Hull and Powell Creative in the past for great custom gifts. Christy does a nice job with maps made out of wood for ornaments or coasters.

There's a map on my lap. Dr Seuss book on mapping. Projections,  datum, scale. Great book!
