May 12, 2021 GeoWomen in Leadership Roundtable Event:
Building Your Elevator Pitch

We may find ourselves presented with an opportunity to share what we do with someone higher up who wouldn't otherwise know about us (think being stuck in an elevator unexpectedly with your CIO or CEO in pre-covid days). What do you say to deliver the maximum impact? Effectively boiling down who you are and what you do to an 'elevator pitch' could prove to be a major breakthrough for your career or specific initiative. GeoWomen in Leadership will gather to discuss strategies for developing and delivering an elevator pitch that can't be ignored. This event will be the second Virtual Roundtable for the GeoWomen community. Our guest speaker will be Deirdre Bishop from the US Census Bureau.

Deirdre Dalpiaz Bishop is chief of the Geography Division at the U.S. Census Bureau, where she leads the development of a national geospatial database. This database of addresses, roads, and boundaries creates the foundation used to support the decennial census and ongoing surveys.

Bishop received her master's degree in public administration from New York University and her bachelor's degree in urban studies from Lehigh University. Bishop is the President of the U.S. National Section of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History. She is Head of the United States Delegation for the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management.
