The 3D Nation Elevation Requirements and Benefits Study – Final Results
Sue Hoegberg, Dewberry
Ashley Chappell, NOAA
Allyson Jason, USGS
An overview of the 3D Nation Study conducted by NOAA and USGS to understand the nationwide requirements and benefits of elevation data both on land and underwater. This presentation will explain the 3D Nation Study background and goals, which include planning for the next generation of the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) after nationwide coverage has been completed; understanding the requirements and benefits of inland, nearshore, and offshore bathymetric data; and understanding how those requirements and benefits dovetail in the coastal zone. An overview of the results will be presented including a summation of the data requirements as reported by study respondents and the estimated future dollar benefits that could be realized if national programs could meet some or all of the stated requirements for elevation data.
During the Forum, USGS would like to gain a better understand of how participants might want to see the results for their state/region so that they can focus on making the results more accessible via tools, tableau, AGOL, etc.
Thanks again to all that participated in the 3D Nation Elevation Requirements and Benefits Study. The information gathered greatly informs both USGS 3DEP and the NSGIC 3DEP FTN project .
Hope to see you there!
